White is an interesting color for a car. It shows the details which a darker color would hide
and can make an uninteresting car less so. That last comment can't be said of the Raymond
Lowery designed Avanti; a car that is interesting in any color.

The Avanti, Studebaker's swan song, here in white over red really showcases Lowery's midcentury
inspired look and feel. The Avanti has always been a polarizing design; some love it and others
simply yawn. It is a interesting looking car which does not photograph well but has some really interesting
features such as the headlights, the hood grill and the grill-less front end.

Although Studebaker stopped making the Avanti in 1963, the car is still being made by this
Avanti Motors in Georgia.

Following on the white car theme, we ran across these three at a local car show. The VW Beetle
convertible in white over black is the perfect summer ride; not too fast so that you can enjoy the
scenery.

The Beetle holds the record for the most manufactured vehicle with over 21million made
from 1938 until 2003.(Trivia : Mexico was the last country to make the Beetle in 2003).
And although Porsche-philes wont admit this, the Beetle is the father of the
Porsche 356.
Finally, how often do you see two vintage white cars at the same intersection? Would guess
not often. But here is a white C3 Corvette with chrome bumpers and the Simon Templar car, a
Volvo P1800 waiting to let each other go by.
